Hi,

I hope you’re having a lovely day!

I’m continuing on with a short blurb on the Ten Commandments, and we are at the second commandment, which is found in Exodus 20:4-6.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting[c] the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.”

What does this mean?

God commands that we put no one and nothing else in His place. He is God Almighty, and He is the only one we are to bow to as in worship and serve as our Sovereign Lord and Master of all.

Many religions throughout the world have carved images that they bow to and serve as their gods, making them divine and sacred. They are being deceived and will miss eternity in God’s glorious presence if they do not repent.

I pray my Moses sculptures will be something to remind you in your home that God’s commandments are for our benefit, to keep our love and devotion on the ONE who is our source of ALL help. Obeying Him guards us from deception and keeps us safe from the enemy’s snares.

No Other Gods

Biblical Sculpture by Sherry Heller

SHARING MY HEART AND PASSION
FOR CREATIVITY, FINE ART AND THE BIBLE

Hi,

For the next several blogs, I’d like to share a bit on each of the Ten Commandments, starting with commandment #1:

“You shall have no other gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3

What does this mean?

Simply, this means that we are to love no one and nothing more than God. He commands us to love Him first and most and above all else.

The Lord knows, this can be challenging for us at times, but God didn’t request this, He commanded this.

In order to understand that God’s commands are always to our ultimate benefit, we need to understand the character of God.

God’s DIVINE nature is LOVE. Pure LOVE.

And since the beginning, His purpose for His creation has always been good. When He says to do or not do something, it is ALWAYS for our good.

To keep our devotion to Him pure and simple, we need to always remember that He loves us, and He ALWAYS wants the very best for us. His wonderful eternal plans far exceed anything we can imagine in our finite minds, and He longs for the day when we see Him face to face in all His glory and enjoy His glorious, loving presence forevermore.

I pray my Moses sculptures will be something to inspire you in your home and remind you of God’s matchless love and desire for our very best.

Samson Confronts

SHARING MY HEART AND PASSION

Hi,

Samson is another interesting character in the Bible who I’m inspired to create sculptures of. His story can be found in Judges chapters 13-16.

The prophet Samson was born to a woman who was previously barren, and his mother dedicated him from a very young age to serve in the temple.

God intricately planned Samson’s purpose before his birth. God granted this child to be born to confront the Philistines and save the Israelites during that time.

Often, we wonder what our purpose is in this life and have many questions about why certain things have happened to us along our journey. God holds the answers to all of that, and seeking Him and His Word is the way to find His perfect will for our lives.

WE DO HAVE A PURPOSE. Our gifts, talents and abilities were given for special reasons.

I pray you seek Him and find your God-given purpose and fulfill His perfect will for your life.

I hope my Samson sculpture inspires you to know more about this Biblical character. There is so much we can learn from studying the characters in the Scriptures. You’ll see more details on my Samson sculpture by clicking on this page.

Blessings,

Sherry

Moses and the Ten Commandments

Hi,

As hard as the secular world tries to get rid of the Ten Commandments in public places, God’s Word is eternal and cannot be hidden.

You can find the stories of Moses and the Ten Commandments in Exodus chapters 19 & 20 and Deuteronomy chapter 5.

DID YOU KNOW THAT GOD WROTE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS WITH HIS OWN HAND? He didn’t just SPEAK them to Moses; He WROTE them on two tablets of stone and GAVE them to Moses.

In Deuteronomy 5:22, regarding the Ten Commandments, Moses says, “These words the Lord spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.”

It’s all very awe-inspiring!

Having my sculpture of Moses and the Ten Commandments would be a beautiful reminder in your home of God’s eternal Word.

Jonah and the Whale

Hi,

My Jonah and the Whale Sculpture was truly a labor of love, empathy and understanding of this Bible character, Jonah.

We can all be like Jonah at times. Have you ever had God stir your heart to do or say something, and then instead of obeying, you go in the opposite direction?

I know I have, and if we think about it, we’ve all run from God’s words at some time or another, in one way or another.

I pray my Jonah sculpture inspires you and reminds you to run TO God and not FROM Him, no matter what.

Good to know that Jonah finally did obey God, but it took dealing with “messy” circumstances to get him there. It’s a whale of a story but nonfiction and completely true!

Abraham Sculpture

Hi,

I am so inspired by the Bible story of Abraham offering up Isaac to the Lord in the Book of Genesis chapter 22.

In this story, Abraham shows his total obedience to God AND complete trust in Him. Abraham understood that God is faithful and that He always has our BEST in mind.

No matter what God asks of us, we can ALWAYS know that He loves us and HIS plan is for our good.

You’ll see several of my Abraham sculptures depicting this story by clicking on this page.

Blessings,
