No Coveting

SHARING MY HEART AND PASSION
FOR CREATIVITY, FINE ART AND THE BIBLE

Hello there!

We’re wrapping up writing on the Ten Commandments. Today we’re on the 10th commandment that was written on tablets of stone by God and given to Moses on Mount Sinai.

I will never cease to be awed by God when I read the Bible, and I believe every word of it.

The 10th Commandment is found in Exodus 20:17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

Covet means to want or desire what does not belong to you. Well, today that’s a tough one for a lot of people, especially those who are trying to keep up with the Joneses and the reality shows. The carnal, fleshly nature of mankind can never be satisfied.

Thankfully, God’s ways are not like our ways. I love what He says in Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LordAs the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Advertisements bombard us daily, trying to make us think we need so many things to make us happy, and often it may seem like the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, but most of it is false advertisement and wrong thinking. And most of the time, if not all of the time, it all leads to emptiness and longing for something that will never satisfy.

How wonderful that we can have the mind of God when we study His word and come to know Him and His ways.

His thoughts and His ways will ALWAYS lead us to ultimate triumph and victory. Knowing Him and walking with Him is more satisfying, fulfilling and thrilling than anything else this world can offer.

Let’s thank Him today for His grace, mercy and strength that enables us to live a life that honors Him. Let’s live a grateful life.

Before you leave, take a few moments to check out my sculptures of Moses and the Ten Commandments on this page!

Blessings,

Sherry
