Honor God’s Name

Hi,

I hope all is well with you!

I’m continuing on with a short blurb on each of the Ten Commandments, and we are at the third commandment, which is found in Exodus 20:7.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

What does this mean?

Volumes could be written on all that this actually means, but to put it simply, it means we are never to dishonor the Lord by using His name or speaking about Him in any dishonoring way.

The names of God reveal His amazing character, and we are commanded to respect and hold Him in the highest regard and esteem Him above all others. He deserves our highest praise and adoration, and when we speak His name or refer to Him in ANY way, we need to be sure it is with utmost honor.

God ALWAYS has our best in mind, and if He commands something, you can be sure, it is to protect us from being deceived and defiled. He is good and loving, and following Him will always put and keep us on the right path.

I hope you take the opportunity to order one of my Moses sculptures to remind you of God’s goodness. My Moses and the Ten Commandments sculptures are on this page.

Blessings,

Sherry

No Other Gods

Biblical Sculpture by Sherry Heller

Hi,

For the next several blogs, I’d like to share a bit on each of the Ten Commandments, starting with commandment #1:

“You shall have no other gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3

What does this mean?

Simply, this means that we are to love no one and nothing more than God. He commands us to love Him first and most and above all else.

The Lord knows, this can be challenging for us at times, but God didn’t request this, He commanded this.

In order to understand that God’s commands are always to our ultimate benefit, we need to understand the character of God.

God’s DIVINE nature is LOVE. Pure LOVE.

And since the beginning, His purpose for His creation has always been good. When He says to do or not do something, it is ALWAYS for our good.

To keep our devotion to Him pure and simple, we need to always remember that He loves us, and He ALWAYS wants the very best for us. His wonderful eternal plans far exceed anything we can imagine in our finite minds, and He longs for the day when we see Him face to face in all His glory and enjoy His glorious, loving presence forevermore.

I pray my Moses sculptures will be something to inspire you in your home and remind you of God’s matchless love and desire for our very best.

Jonah and the Whale

Hi,

My Jonah and the Whale Sculpture was truly a labor of love, empathy and understanding of this Bible character, Jonah.

We can all be like Jonah at times. Have you ever had God stir your heart to do or say something, and then instead of obeying, you go in the opposite direction?

I know I have, and if we think about it, we’ve all run from God’s words at some time or another, in one way or another.

I pray my Jonah sculpture inspires you and reminds you to run TO God and not FROM Him, no matter what.

Good to know that Jonah finally did obey God, but it took dealing with “messy” circumstances to get him there. It’s a whale of a story but nonfiction and completely true!

You’ll see my Jonah sculptures depicting this Bible story by clicking on this page.

Blessings,

Sherry

Daniel Emerges Out of the Clay

Hi,

I’m working more on Daniel in the Lions’ Den, and although it’s still a lump of clay, I can see Daniel slowly and powerfully emerging as I lovingly draw the figures out of the clay.

Sculpting is a process, just like life. Our lives can often look like a big, lumpy mess, but don’t stop there because beneath it all is a beautiful work of art that just needs the MASTER SCULPTOR to mold and shape it. Look to HIM for what He sees in you. Let HIM have HIS way and HIS say.

Beliefs and devotion can be a wonderfully expressed through art, and I am so excited to bring you my inspirations and labor of love through my Biblical sculptures.

The characters in the Bible are very inspiring to me as I work on my Biblical sculptures.

My hope is that you too will be inspired to not only recognize the Biblical characters but also know and understand the amazing stories in the Scriptures related to the Biblical sculptures.

I’ll let you know as soon as Daniel in the Lions’ Den is finished and available for purchase!

Blessings,

Sherry
